HTTP — Hypertext Transfer Protocol
Also: HTTPS
The set of rules computers use to send pages and requests over the web.
The fuller definition
HTTP is a request-response protocol used by web clients and servers. HTTPS uses HTTP over an encrypted TLS connection.

- Server

- Response

A simplified relationship, not a screenshot or a complete design.
A concrete example
A browser requests a page, or a program sends a JSON request to an API and receives a response.
The distinction that matters
HTTPS protects data in transit; it does not prove the receiving service is trustworthy or keeps data private afterward.
